Brian Blauser
Patty Loveless can be heard on this week's edition of Mountain Stage.
This week's radio broadcast features one of country's finest singers, Patty Loveless, with songs from her latest CD Mountain Soul II plus a stirring rendition of Darrell Scott's "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" . You'll also hear sets from California alt-country singer Leslie Stevens, songwriter Pieta Brown, Bluegrass entertainers The Grascals and Grammy Winner Loudon Wainwright.

Check out the playlist and find a station  in your area to find out when you can tune in. Remember that stations receive the program on Friday and local air times vary. Be sure to consult your station's broadcast schedule to be sure.

Loudon Wainwright sings our "Song of the Week."

We've got a preview on our "Song of the Week" page with Loudon, as topical as ever, with "Times is Hard."

The song appears on his latest release "Songs for the New Depression," his follow up to the Grammy winning "High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project," which took home best traditional folk album honors.

Don't forget to look for the latest episode in our ARCHIVES or catch the Mountain Stage Podcast on iTunes and Feedburner. The next mp3 version of the show goes up Monday and features Steve Earle, The Lovell Sisters, Sara Watkins, King Wilkie and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.

Stay tuned in throughout May as we have a very special "family tree" edition of Mountain Stage in the works featuring sets by relatives who have been on the Mountain Stage, either together or separate, over the last 26 years. It will include songs by Arlo, Abe & Sarah Lee Guthrie, John & Jamie Hartford and much, much more.
